MIni Cooper Madness
MNR 61P
As purchased from a guy named Greg in San Jose. It had North Carolina plates, and racing history in England. It was de-seamed and full of bondo, and had been kissed just about everywhere from the look of the bodywork on the back sides of the panels. Also had real magnesium Minilite wheels with beer can centercaps.
The popout rear quarter-windows and rear window were plexiglass, and it had been updated with MK2 taillights.
I painted it and started auto-xing with 10" Formula 440 slicks. These popped a lot of tubes. Along the way I had Doug Petersen of Comptech (Honda/Acura IndyCar project with Parker Johnstone) rebuild the 1275cc motor. It was really strong. I still occasionally drove it on the street with slicks.
We then switched to 13" wheels and slicks
